Ji Ye-eun Clarifies Baeksang Tears: “I Cried Out of Joy for Soo-ji Unnie, Not Disappointment”

During the episode, Ji Ye-eun clarified, “There were rumors that I cried at Baeksang because I didn’t win an award. In reality, I was moved to tears watching Soo-ji unnie [Lee Soo-ji] receive her award.” She added, “I had no expectations of winning in the first place and was just thrilled to attend. My bigger goal was to look good in photos, and the photos turned out well,” she said with a playful grin.
The cast members present chimed in, saying, “Ji Ye-eun was genuinely congratulating her senior. She has a beautiful heart,” and applauded her.
Additionally, Ji Ye-eun drew attention for her transformed appearance after losing weight. When others remarked, “Ye-eun looks like a celebrity now that she’s slimmed down,” and “She used to have a cute vibe, but now she’s completely different,” Ji Ye-eun laughed, saying, “I lost weight, and now everyone’s making a fuss. Before, they said I was too chubby!”
Kim Won-hoon added, “Back then, she had a cute charm, but now she’s totally celebrity-like,” to which Ji Ye-eun responded, “I was always cute, and being called celebrity-like feels great.”
Meanwhile, Ji Ye-eun officially joined Running Man as a permanent cast member in December 2024, following a six-month trial period. While her initial appearance sparked mixed reactions—leading her to temporarily disable comments on social media—her vibrant energy and natural rapport with the cast gradually turned the tide. Viewers began to embrace her, praising the fresh dynamic she brought to the show.
Already recognized for her sharp wit and memorable performances on SNL Korea and Zzanbro, Ji Ye-eun continued to win hearts with her lively presence and seamless chemistry with the Running Man team.
